Search Engine Submission

OK, you've picked the best keywords, written tons of keyword rich content, optimized your website and verified every inch of your code. Now all you have to do now is get the search engines to visit and index your website. So how do you do that? How do you get the search engines to visit and which search engines are the most important? We have been asked this question many times, so we decided to put together our own list of important Internet search engines based on a combination of link popularity and Alexa ranking. The following search engines are our top picks for the most important search engines on the web and the search engines on which you need to concentrate. These include: Yahoo, MSN, Google, Lycos and AskJeeves.

So what is the best way to get listed on each of these search engines? Well, we found that the best way to get listed is to let search engines find you naturally (also referred to as organic). The best way to make that happen is to get your website listed on a website the search engines already have in their index and you're golden. The truth as we found it to be is that you can get listed on a search engine by submitting your site to be indexed, but that may take anywhere from six to eight weeks. For us, organic links (links found naturally by a search engine's spider or robot) produce much better results. We have been able to get brand new websites listed on Google, MSN, and Yahoo within 48 hours of when we upload the website for the very first time. Wow, 48 hours! Is that really possible? Yes it is. Does it happen every time? No, sometimes it takes up to a week, but compare that to six to eight weeks when submitting your website manually and you get the point.

Is it ok to manually submit your website to all the search engines? Yes it is and we assembled the information below just for those of you that would prefer to manually submit your site. One word of warning. Our experience has shown us that submitting a website to a search engine that already has that site listed can lead to that site being reduced in ranking or even delisted until it is reindexed. Beware!
